The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and Central Livestock Professional Association (CERELPA) signed Letter of Agreement (LOA) on 18th February, 2015 in support of improved resilience of critical nuclear herd of livestock by restocking after the drought period/seasons. Receiving and selection, treatment, identification and quarantine of productive female goats and handover those selected animals to be distributed to selected and vulnerable pastoralist households by FAO animal distribution.in the targeted districts in Hiran region of central Somalia. the
Objectives of the Project
The objective of the intervention/project is:
- Restoring livelihoods and improving the resilience of livestock dependent communities’ through the provision of critical nuclear herd of livestock for restocking after the drought period

Project Outcome
- A defined number of health productive female goats in South Central Somalia treated/identified/quarantined for 3-5 days, ready for distribution to selected vulnerable households in Beletweyn and Mataban districts of Hiran region. On March 2015 CERELPA identified, selected received, treated, and quarantined of 5,600 productive female goats and handover those selected animals to be distributed to selected and vulnerable pastoralist households by FAO animal distribution.in the targeted districts in Hiran region of central Somalia.
