For the provision of veterinary services through livestock treatment targeting 187,500 animals in Beletweyne district, Hiran Region, Hirshabelle state of Somalia for CERF Project”.

In response to the current drought conditions, FAO is supporting CERELPA to implement a project that targets treatment of 187,500 sick/weak animals belonging to 3,200 households in Hiran Region (Beletweyne District) Hiran Region State of Somalia while strengthening Early Action for Vulnerable Communities in the district from 13th August to 25th Sept 2025

The purpose of the project is to protect and increase the value of the remaining livelihood assets of vulnerable herders and reduce the likelihood of animal contagion in the Beletweyne district.

During the intervention period, the project reached a total of 3,348 food insecure households in Beletweybe district, Hiran region.  224,811 sheep and goats, camels, and cattle received mandatory veterinary services, while 3,990 sheep, goats, camels, and cattle got secondary veterinary services. At the final reporting period, the project had reached a 119.8% of the targeted livestock.
