The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and Central Livestock Professional Association (CERELPA) signed a Letter of Agreement (LOA) on 24thJanuary 2020 for the provision of “CCPP (Contagious Caprine Pleuro Pneumonia) vaccination campaign in Hiraan, M.Shabelle, Galgaduud and Mudug regions of Somalia”.
The objective of this intervention is is to protect their remaining livestock assets through vaccination of goats against CCPP. This intervention will assist vulnerable households to preserve their livelihood assets as the poor and vulnerable households keep mainly goats especially in the current the cold windy season.
Outputs/outcomes : Approximately 4 million heads of goats owned by vulnerable herders to receive CCPP vaccination.
On February 13, 2021, the Central Regions Livestock Professional Association (CEREPLA) carried out the CCPP vaccination campaign. In all four regions (Galgadud, Mudug, Hiran, and Middle Shabelle), 3,970,595 (99.2%) goats were vaccinated against CCPP between January 25 and April 2, 2020, reaching 62,627 households.
